I have worried about smell. But, I think the smell only becomes noticeable when you don't do anything. Like, anything.....not sure how else to say that. I do notice a smell if I go a little too long without washing. It gets pretty oily. But, as soon as I rinse it out with the baking soda and oils it smells great again. I have noticed that my hair tends to be "wired" out when I use baking soda so I'm thinking I might just completely use only a rinse of some diluted essentials and call it a day. Because I can't lie, I like the "perfumey" smells. But only if they are oils or all natural. Thanks for your blog! You've got my support on no shampoo washing! honeybeahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08825715584232109529noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3411670939093474721.post-52578167790726912542017-03-29T16:50:50.493-07:002017-03-29T16:50:50.493-07:00I never wash my hair, sometimes I put oil in it to...I never wash my hair, sometimes I put oil in it to make it even healthier. When I had my hair cut my hairdresser was amazed. My hair was thinning before I stopped using shampoo and now she described it as feeling like fur it is so thick. I just rinse it when I shower.I didn't have any period of adjustment where it was greasy probably because it tended to be a little dry. I know garlic can ward off fungus/bacterial stuff. I tried it and am now almost itch free. You may have to apply it a few times. Oregano oil diluted in coconut oil can help too (I tried it after the garlic stuff as making the garlic paste was too much trouble). I myself started this All natural journey When I started researching and praying to God for understanding how to take care of my body and hair in a way that I would be more healthy. I see the wonders of Gods creation and He did not give us shampoo when we were made. Nature has plenty of natural ways to Cleans your hair, I myself use lemon juice diluted in water every now and then.

I wash my body with Himalayan salt and my skin has never look nor felt better. I only use soap (natural as possible) for hands and private areas. Nonetheless God made everything perfect and my Hair lovessss water only washing, I have Sebum which my own body produces and it makes my hair feel soft. and I have kinky curls. Besides the softness of my hair, my hair has grown much more then when I used shampoo's, moisturizers, etc

as for now I thinking of experimenting using Himalayan salt as a hair rinse since it works marvellous for my body... what about my hair:)

Besides this I love how nature I use things which God created, to heal my body, to give friends and family tips and natural remedies.. Using the whole pods and nuts is advisable. A bit of work but the results are worth it. I happened to...Hi everyone! Greetings from India. I happened to come across this blog and loved the idea of washing with just water. In fact in one of our regions in India - Kerala, the women have lovely thick and black long hair. They traditionally always oil their hair with coconut oil and rinse their hair every day - no soap, only water. And it certainly does not smell (perhaps the coconut oil helps to keep it from smelling?)

I felt I should share some 'secrets' that Indians have traditionally been using for hundreds of hair for gorgeous and nice smelling hair (since many of the comments above keep asking about smell). I hope these ingredients are available overseas. If not, let me know and I can try to send them over to those who are interested).

Of course, we generally do oil our hair (coconut / olive / castor / almond - the last two are very thick and difficult to wash out with just water, so you will need to use other poo substitutes like what I am going to tell you about) but due to Western influence many women nowadays do not, and use shampoos and conditioners. But oiling is still the best way to keep your hair lustrous and healthy.

We used to use 2 natural herbal things - called shikakai (a tree pod) and rita / reeta nut (also called soap nut). Soak a few shikakai pods and rita nut skins in a few cups of water overnight. [Smash the rita nuts ( they have a large stone inside which should be thrown away - only the outer thick hard skin is used)]. Next morning, before your bath, boil for a few minutes. Cool and blend in a mixer / blender - remove the seeds from the pods of the shikakai before blending though. Use this water for washing. Shake up the water in the bowl with your hand to make it lather. Be careful not to get the water into your eyes as it can make your eyes burn and turn them red - just like soap can (not dangerous though- just wash off with clean water and your eyes should be fine after a while).

The first wash you may need to use more of this soapy water on your hair and scalp and you may not get much lather as it first washes off any dirt and grime / grease /oil. Rinse well.. For the second wash you may need to use only a very little as it will lather a lot (take a little of the soap water along with more water to wash your hair). You will notice that your hair is now squeaky clean. Wash well. Your hair will be clean, nice smelling, and shiny. It may be a bit dry (depending on how your hair is) - if so, just use a drop or two of coconut oil and rub between your palms and then run your hands through your hair.

You will be amazed at how beautiful and shiny your hair looks. Both these ingredients are totally natural and healthy with lots of nutrients for hair.

For skin (a few people mentioned trying to go natural / no soap way) - lentil flour (either made from green gram or chick pea flour also called besan in India) can be used with water to make a paste. Apply to face / body, let it dry for a few minutes till almost but not fully dry - should still look a bit wet (do not wait till fully dry as it will be difficult to wash off). Wet area with water and then gently rub / wash off. It's like a scrub and keeps the skin squeaky clean, clear, fresh and radiant. You can add some yoghurt instead of water for oily skin or milk for dry skin instead of water. This can be used every day. Try it and see the difference. Let me know the results. Would be happy to hear back from you'll.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3411670939093474721.post-39721884707649721602015-04-14T19:45:38.762-07:002015-04-14T19:45:38.762-07:00I swim and play waterpolo everyday during the scho...I swim and play waterpolo everyday during the school year and have to use shampoo to get the chlorine out and conditioner for repair. Shikakai is a great transition from shampoo to water only because it cleans hair perfectly without depleting all natural oils. My ex called me, I was so surprised, I answered the call and all he said was that he was so sorry for everything that happened, that he wanted me to return to him, that he loves me so much. What did you do about this? I've started combing baby powder through my hair to ease the oil a bit, but is that just prolonging the adjustment? Any information you could give me would be helpful, I have hair and skin just like your described yours. I used to wash it every once in a while with dr. And dry in spots. I thought an alternative would be best. You should try adding using a boar bristle brush to your routine daily. The natural boar bristle brush has serum on the bristles which is an oil found in our scalps. Using this type of brush dislodges oils and dirt that have built up through the day and spreads your natural hair oils through your hair from scalp to tip. This is what Pioneer women used on the trail. They washed their hair with water and soft soap and brushed with the boar bristle brush. Sometimes they only had water, no soap. It's just a thought.

As for Kathee Lee, she should hang her head in shame, and pray she is never the recipient of the same kind of treatment she gave you. I am sorry you faced this kind of bullying from people who are old enough to know better. They should both be ashamed. Keep being yourself. Ignore the bullies.

Good luckDiana Hickmanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02392358303654251436noreply@blogger.com
